I love the patterns here. Both are loved by Africans and hated by both those around them and Europeans.

Lol, you should ask the Greeks, South Africans, and Mexicans. How many Chinese cultural products have they consumed? Have they read the Three Kingdoms? The most important monument of Chinese medieval culture? How many Chinese authors of classical literature do they know? How many Chinese films have they watched in recent times? The Greeks, South Africans, and Mexicans are like stupid children who did something wrong and got beaten with a belt by their father, and now they're trying to get back at their father.
The current regime in South Africa should thank the United States for imposing economic sanctions on apartheid. If it weren't for Reagan's sanctions, the white minority would have gained power in South Africa. The Greeks? If they hadn't joined NATO in 1952 at the same time as Turkey, the Turks would have massacred them using their NATO membership as a shield. Mexico? If it weren't for the United States, Mexico would be even more impoverished, torn apart by bloody civil wars, with nowhere to put its young population that can't find employment.
Let him @AsiaCel explain the relationship between the Chinese and the Indonesians.

As far as I remember, Indonesians killed ethnic Chinese en masse in the 1970s, when the Jakarta method was used to fight communism. Indonesian people also often engage in anti-Chinese pogroms.
All this love for China and hatred for the United States is just fake statistics.

Not knowledgeable enough about politics but I’m not surprised that Canada hates us

:yes::yes::yes:

By and large they don't know anything about China (or even about their own neighbours a lot of the time:feelshaha:), but they do dislike the US and know that China's their main rival.

Probably, but it's actually surprising that, at least recently, India seems to be way more pushy about forcing other countries to allow its citizens access to them (like in the new EU-India trade deal) than African countries are. I guess it's just due to having much more leverage, but still.

If Russians, who have lived side by side for three centuries, don't know anything about the Chinese, what can we say about Greeks, Mexicans, and Africans? Russians don't watch Chinese movies, they don't read Chinese books, and most of them don't read anything at all. For most Russians, Confucius is a Chinese grandfather with a beard in a meme with a funny caption. This is despite the fact that they share a thousand-kilometer border and have been coexisting since the 1600s, when Russian Cossacks defeated the Chinese and established the Amur River as the border.

I heard that allowing indians to stream into europe was the price paid by the EU, for India to not fully align with Russia and China. This is extremely wild if true, especially since it does not guarantee anything long term.

Pure truthnuke.

Martin Jacques I'm pretty sure touched on this in When China Rules the World, where he pointed out that as late as the 90s or so, even SEA countries literally bordering China knew much less about it than the US and didn't bother learning about it at all.

The US, and the West in general, dominate people's minds to a level that's hard to overstate. People in those countries, and other Arab, African or Latin third countries, don't know shit about China and have never been exposed to Chinese culture, they just know what China means to the US and think of it according to that, according to what and how they feel about the US. Maybe those SEA countries now know about as much about China as they know about the US, but the rest of the world consumes American pop culture, follows American celebrities, watches American Youtubers, movies and TV shows, and so on.

If that's true then, considering that India currently holds the BRICS presidency, Modi has the capability to do and say some pretty funny things at their next summit.

i'm sure it will be very funny. it seems that the world's geopolitical future is just going to be a lot of letting countries with huge populations walk all over countries with smaller populations.

your opinion on this situation will vary a lot depending on which side of it you are on :feelskek:

Japan is still getting revenge for ww2

Let's face it. Most Europeans largely dislike and find the United States sort of a laughing stock. It's partly a coping mechanism though. That's not to say that they necessarily dislike or even hate Americans on average, but they're simultaneously laughing at the US and fearful of our government's power on the global stage.

Anglo countries in particular, such as Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand have a soft envy towards the US because they the United States, even now is still a super power and has the strongest military, and largest stock pile of world ending weapons. :feelskek: Not that the average Brit is thinking about this on a conscious level, but deep down they are jealous that they lost influence and control over the world nearly a century ago.

At first it was about coping with the fact that the US is stronger, now it's also increasingly about dealing with the fact that Americans are becoming much richer than Europeans as well. At least for Western Europeans (we Eastern Europoors have always known how poor we are:forcedsmile:) that's an increasingly sore spot, and talking about it is certain to draw a lot of desperate coping from Euros on the internet.
