Nah i will stick to 60 hz since all laptops and pc's in the university have 60 hz. Dont want to get used to 144 hz since i know that i wont want to go back to 60 hz.

I don't play games and have never tried a 144hz monitor. Is it worth it for things other than gaming? I use high end monitors, but typically focus on color (IPS) and resolution (4k), since mostly I surf the Internet (like nice colors of pictures and layout elements) and code (need lots of screen real estate to keep a large number of files and documentation open simultaneously). What benefit will I get from 144hz in this scenario?

Not really. I run 60hz in Windows (browsing, office stuff, etc) but I run 144hz in games (if my GPU can do it).
I mean, yes, you can always tell the difference, but I don't see the point of 144hz in office applications because the only benefit you get (as Weed already said) is that your mouse cursor moves smoother and if you drag windows around it's smoother. Not really worth it in my oppinion.
Yeah man. My GPU is too slow to run modern games with 144fps. 60fps are easiely possible, but I personally can't play on 60fps anymore since it feels like the game stutters. Sucks. You'll always need a GPU that can handle the higher fps, which is pretty costly.
