Hello everyone, my first post here.
I have been working in construction for a while now (not currently working but I will have to work again soon), and over the years, I have made some observation that correlates to the Blackpill/Lookism, so i made an account to share them.
I have worked in a dozen different construction companies, and on many big construction sites, often with dozens, sometimes hundreds, of people working in there at the same time, and I observed each trade have a stereotyped look, so i would like to make some statistical review, then make theories on why that happens.
But first, i will quickly define the different trades that exist in construction, for those of you who don't know much about that field:
Looks are a complex thing, so I will classify them with 3 criteria: Height, Race, and Face.
More details:
Here's how I will go for each trade:
So here are the stats:
-
Now, a few thing to say:
First, there's a lot of "average" in there. That's normal, because the average person is "average".
Second, races are all mostly Europeans or MENAs, this is simply because its the most common races over here.
Third, you can see that a lot of these stats correlates, like: "white = taller = better looking". This might be because, as some say here, good genes come in packages, but maybe not, or other reasons.
Forth, the sample estimation is low, its because these observations span over years, and my memory isn't perfect, so I went with the most recent memory I have.
Finally, all of these stats may just be coincidences, so I'm open to criticism, objections, or questions*.
(*As long as its not too personal, I don't want to share very private information, like where exactly I have worked or lived.)
-
Now, I'm not very smart, if I were, I wouldn't work in construction, but I can try to make some theories on these stats.
For height, certain tasks (done mostly by Plasterers/Painters or Carpenters) require being taller, while other (often done by Masons or Plumbers) are easier if you are shorter, so maybe people chose their career depending on what will be easier for them due to their different bodies and capacities.
Then, maybe race also impacts your capacities, so maybe some races are better at certain tasks than other.
For face though, I don't know how it could influence your capacities, so don't know what to say on that.
-
I don't have anything else to add for now, so I will just post this here, and I'm curious about what you think of it.
Do you think these stats are correct ? (or just a coincidence)
If they are, why do you think that happens ?
Also, have you also observed looks correlating with position, in your workplace ? (for those of you who work)
That's all, thanks for reading

But first, i will quickly define the different trades that exist in construction, for those of you who don't know much about that field:
Mason : Works with bricks, concrete blocks, and stone.
Carpenter : Works with wood to build structures like frames, walls, and forms for concrete.
Plasterer/Painter : Apply plaster, paint, stain, coatings, or finishes to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.
Glazier : Specialized tradespeople who install glass in windows, skylights, storefronts, and more.
Electrician : Installs and maintains electrical systems.
Plumber : Installs and repairs piping systems.:
Metalworker : Works with metal to build frameworks and reinforcements.
I will not mention all other workers like architects or managers because I have not seen enough of them to say anything significant about them.

More details:
Average height where I live is about 5'9, so to me, "tall" begins above 5'11, and "short" is under 5'7.
As for race, I mostly worked in the South of Western Europe, so the most common races here are:
- European (Some people make a difference between "Nordics" (light eye/hair color, taller) and "Southerners" (darker eye/hair color, shorter). Personally, I don't see much difference, but since some of you care, I will precise it each time.
- MENA (Middle East, North African)
- African (black)
- Hispanic (from South America, I know its a broad definition but I don't have any better)
There are not many Asian, Indian, or Mixed people here, so I can't say much about them.
And as for Face, I'm not a face-rating expert so I will just use a simple "Ugly/Average/Handsome" scale.

Here's how I will go for each trade:
Trade X (n=50):
Height: [average height]*
Race: [racial distribution]*
Face: [average face]*
*I will add comments if I have any
(the "n=(50)" is an estimation of how many of these types of trade workers I have seen)

Race: [racial distribution]*
Face: [average face]*
*I will add comments if I have any
(the "n=(50)" is an estimation of how many of these types of trade workers I have seen)
So here are the stats:
Masons (n=60):
Height: Shorter than average
Race: Very diverse, mostly Southern European and MENAs, some African and Hispanics too
Face: Almost all average or ugly, rarely handsome
Carpenters (n=60):
Height: Taller than average, the tallest of all of these trades
Race: All European, and mostly Nordics
Face: Better than average, just as for height, probably the best of all trades
Plasterers/Painters (n=20):
Height: Taller than average
Race: Often non-white, mostly MENAs and Hispanics
Face: Average
Glaziers (n=20):
Height: Average height
Race: Mostly European (both Nordic and Southerners)
Face: Better than average
Electricians (n=40):
Height: Average height
Race: Some Europeans, a lot of Africans and MENAs
Face: Below average for non-Europeans, average for the Europeans
Plumbers (n=30):
Height: Slightly shorter than Average
Race: Mostly Europeans or MENAs
Face: Average
Metalworkers (n=40):
Height: Average height
Race: Mainly Europeans but some MENAs too
Face: Average
