I went and played the original Resident Evil 4 after completing the Resident Evil 4 remake. While playing the original, I realized how really different games are nowadays and not in a good way. Games nowadays just feel boring compared to past games, personally I think the remake is ok but compared to the original I just prefer the original better, I don't know how to describe it, but it really feels like a lot of modern games lack soul. I feel like this industry relies too much on nostalgia and graphic instead of coming up with new unique ideas and gameplay. I personally feel like normies are ruining gaming, feels like modern games are boring because they have to appeal to normies with automation and bad storytelling instead of focusing on good gameplay, especially when it comes to Sony games. I would say the gameplay is obviously the most important part of any game but I feel like most of these modern games focus way too much on graphics, the gameplay really does feel like an afterthought and I would say open-world games are the worst offenders of doing this, feels like they just create an open world and just put objectives around the map and call it a day, I hate it. Not only that most games nowadays are just broken, and they also require Multiple patches just so the games aren't a buggy mess, most recent PC ports are so bad its honestly amazing how badly these companies manage to fuck up the game on PC, and sometimes consoles aren't any better. The over-reliance on graphics is also pretty bad, I would argue graphics really haven't improved all that much since the mid-2010s but these companies always trying their hardest for realism and forget to optimize the damn game. Forget about improving graphics they should be focusing on optimizing the game instead. The level of design in most games nowadays are also not that great, they feel unorganized and messy, and they also feel repetitive with only small differences between areas. Most games also take forever to complete which makes me not want to play them after a few hours, they have to pad out the game with more generic gameplay and extra puzzles with little reward and purpose. I rather play a game that is 6 hours long but has good replay value than a game that is 20 hours long with no replay value. Back then we would get a bunch of unique games every year and most of them were actually great but nowadays games take forever to come out which isn't a bad thing, but games nowadays really feel like cash grabs, I am not waiting 7 years to play shitty games. The censoring of female characters and characters, in general, can also be seen as a problem, and it's hypocritical that most of these normies are fine with having attractive male characters in games but call people misogynists and sexist for wanting attractive female characters in games and they absolutely hate it when you point out the redesigning of female characters that show less skin but keep the male characters the exact same. Wokeness in gaming is also a huge problem in my opinion as the stories really feel like fanfics or just political propaganda. I know what some of you are going to say, that I should play more indie games, but the problem is a lot of indie games are no better and try too hard to appeal to the AAA gaming crowd and indie games really can't fill the void and soullessness of modern gaming as they usually don't have the high budget that these big companies do meaning the indie devs are kind of limited on what they can do and also indie devs are also the main culprits of wokeness in games, some indie games have trans flags and rainbow flags in the game as some type of easter egg or their main story revolves around depression and mental illness or its about how capitalism is bad or whatever political message there trying to push. Not trying to say all indie games are like that or they make the game bad or anything, one of my favorite indie games is A Hat in Time and it has one the those few things I listed above. I just think the industry is heading in the wrong direction, sold my ps4 and all my ps4 games, I am going to try to be more careful about what I purchase, going to try and stop chasing trends and just buy the games I like.
TL;DR: Most modern games lack soul, they are unoptimized and focus way too much on graphics instead of optimizing, they have bad level design, bad story, and even bad gameplay. Wokeness is destroying gaming, normies are ruining gaming, old games are better, etc etc
I have actually been going outside more, walking around in the backyard. been having fun exploring and destroying ant hills, unironically having more fun than playing these shitty games, sadly the mosquitos always coming for my ass.
