Before DLC became prominent, games used to be absolutely stuffed with content. Compare Mario Kart Wii, old Dragon Ball games, fighting games, Monster Hunter (even without the G rank expansion) and multiplayer games used to be stuffed with content. Why? Because DLC wasn't as prominent. Now most games come out half baked and rely on DLC expansions to be complete.

True, doesn't help that the developers are also pretty shit thesedays and overworked like hell being forced to only push out slop that moves the companies profits to were the higher ups want them to be, and the normies have been so conditioned to it that its nothing but everyday normality to them. I hope that maybe with AI it will one day get better and let games return to their original creativity and depth but I doubt that'll ever happen

You can say that about hundreds of games like Enlisted or Deep Rock Galactic or Warframe. Minecraft is not unique in that regard.

Old monster hunter games without g rank content are trash only base generation had good base game content

single player games with multiplayer have Anti cheat with Elden ring and armored core 6 too bad there is no option not install the multiplayer part and skip the Anti cheat

I guess the biggest problem is that gaming went mainstream.

Back in the 90 and early 2000s the industry was run by enthusiastic workers and uninvolved money givers/investors that just wanted to see a payoff.

Everything ran smooth but the just like with movies and music the money givers thought they that knew better and started to get involved.

Also the unnecessary jumps in graphics. Idgaf if a game looks like it's a ps2 game. But make the gameplay fun and exciting like bloodborne or max payne 1. Give me content that is unlocked by playing the game.

And also the focus on multiplayer is a problem. Try to find a good single player shooter like rtcw nowadays. Its all just multiplayer slop or far cry clone slop.

It was definitely a better medium when it was still a niche thing mostly consumed by boys and young men.

And yeah if you compare the content you get from tekken 3 with any modern game tekken 3 would win in quantity and quality.
