Why is this game so popular with normal people?
We've had good first person shooters and arena shooters since Quake, GoldenEye, etc.
No one cared about those except geeks and losers.
Now all of a sudden every normal person plays this Fortnite deal?

Its Free* - you can download and play for free but lack ability to change appearance or have different dances.
It's made by Epic Games, they made Unreal Tournament and Gears of War. The controls and animations are really smooth.
The look of the game reminds me of Mario Kart so its bright and eye catching to a younger audience and parents seeing it let their kids play it.
Then you have things like building in the game so its different than other first person shooters and It also has dancing in the game and outfits which attracts a younger or different audience And Youtubers keep making videos about it which kids watch.
