He's trying to inflate the importance of the KGB and his own influence in order to sell himself as a defector in the West. Even the CIA has investigated the new left and found no Soviet influence in their creation. The new left (BLM, feminists, and LGBT) was not created by the KGB; it was organically recreated by a younger generation who was taught that Nazis were evil and concluded that white people were evil, heterosexuals were evil, and patriarchy was evil. Additionally, there is the influence of Maoism.
The New Left is still a separate mutation, not an independent creation of the USSR.

Maoism influence on the new left. Mao gave women equal rights in China and eliminated decades of Chinese patriarchy. Mao also advocated for anti-colonial struggle and the struggle of young people against the elderly. The Black Panthers were Maoists and distributed Mao Zedong's Red Book.
The new left had two idols, Mao Zedong and Leon Trotsky (it is striking that Mao considered himself Stalin's successor in world communism, while Stalin killed Trotsky with an ice pick)
