Like most people I mostly use it to complain about shit anime. I do rate anime that I like enjoy but I go more in-depth about anime I just find crappy or boring.

I don’t think MAL is a good indication of good anime because I have seen shit that is rated too high.

TRVTH. A lot of the shit that is rated high is just a generic power fantasy isekai or a generic shonen where the MC for the billionth time is the chosen one and has to go through a training arc to defeat a mysterious organisation

I use it mostly to remember what I watched/read, but I give rating based on how re-readable it is. Like Chainsaw man S1 is a 5/10 but Usagi Drop or One Room of Happiness are 7-9/10
