On December 6th, 1989 at 5PM, Marc Lépine (aged 25), walked into the École Polytechnique with a knife on his belt, carrying a green garbage bag which held his rifle and bullets. He entered a classroom where a student was giving a presentation and walked up to the front, ordering all of the women and men to go to opposite sides of the room. Nobody moved, thinking this was some kind of prank, Marc then shot twice in the air to prove his seriousness, now ordering all men to leave the room, the men complied. Marc then exclaimed "Vous êtes toutes des féministes, Je hais les féministes" ["You're all just a bunch of feminists, I hate feminists"] and after a brief argument with one of the women, he began to shoot them, killing 6 out of 9. Marc proceeded to walk around the school, shooting and stabbing random women, killing another 8, after having killed 14 women, Marc shot himself in the head, ending the shooting in roughly 20 minutes
