For all the autists, how did you find out you're autistic?

For me it started when I was 4 years old. I used to never pay attention in class and never socialise with other students. After that they decided to test me in 2011 and it resulted with me being diagnosed with PDD-NOS. It's the same thing ER was diagnosed with which is pretty interesting.

I'm curious if you guys have interesting stories as well.

I never spoke and was overly sensitive. I have always been seen as a weirdo but it got way harder when I got to my teenage years. I think when you're a very young child, people don't judge you as much because they assume that you're shy. It's over for you when you get to your teens and adulthood and you still can't act NT.

I also used to be overly sensitive and cry allot. When I got older the crying did stop but it turned more in disassociation and silence which isolated me allot.

I always knew I didn't belong in this world. Always had that experience. Social difficulty, constantly getting in fist fights...

Didn't even consider that I'm autistic until I got into a heated argument with a racist on discord.

Then I took different tests online.

Then actually went to a psychologist to determine if I'm autistic or not. I was put through 4 hours of different IQ and psychological tests. Pretty thorough.

And yes. I'm Asperger's

I was originally diagnosed with Autism at 3 or 4 years old, I had behavioral issues until I was in 3rd grade. And I also had trouble completing assignments so, in 3rd or 4th grade, I was assigned an Aide which was someone that would help me focus and complete assignments I was given during class. I had an aide until I was in 7th grade when I had to move to another city.

I had some friends while in elementary school, which is unfortunately the peak of my social life. Ever since middle school, I had trouble maintaining and making new friends, so I resorted to online friends. i got rediagnosed at 20 with Autism and General Anxiety.
