There's one scene in the Netflix series, Sex Education in which Dr. Jean Milburn who is Otis's mom, seduces Jakob Nyman (a man who works at her house). She said and I quote - "Only about 10% of men have high quantities of androsterone, which is the pheromones which gives humans what we call sex appeal. These pheromones gives off powerful signals of attraction."
Dr. Jean Milburn plays the role of a sex therapist so obviously she'd know a lot about the process of sexual selection.
