I knew a 23-year-old girl when I was 19 as we worked in the same bagel shop together. She was very religious, as she and her parents were some evangelical offshoot of Christianity, I forgot what flavor, specifically.
She was initially very friendly, but also very naive as there were a lot of things she did not understand or had heard of. I am not sure if this was because of the way she was raised or what. I had no problem with her per se but she had some really strange beliefs about certain things.
Anyway, she was all excited to get a cell phone as this was the early-2000's and not everyone had one yet, back then. I left my job soon after, because I had started college as I took a "gap year" to build my finances.
About two months into the school year, I had heard that she had died in a fatal car accident as she had apparently been texting while driving. I did not know how to feel about it at the time, because although it was a very stupid way to die and it was her own fault, most people are stupid kids at that age and it did make me sad.
Looking back on it, in retrospect, I suppose this serves as a lesson to put down your damn phone when driving.
