Imagine having to make converstion with every taxi you hire, in order to distract them from getting any extracurricular ideas. Like stopping in the middle of nowhere and asking you extra to move further. Or have his friends kill you and steal your stuff. (Uber is a godsend in this regard but even that is not 100% shitholeproof)

Imagine having to be constantly alert for scammers because overcharging and scamming is name of the game.

Imagine having to make connections and strengthen your network because taking and giving favors is how anything ever gets done . Otherwise you are fucked

Paying the legitimate, predetermined charge to a cashier and moving on sounds like heaven in comparison

Here in the us we negotiate for a few things mostly cars but we still end up paying more than we should.
I use to love going to some of the big distribution markets. Interesting place
