Elizabeth Holmes was a young Stanford dropout who built her own company that was once valued at $8B. Her company was called Theranos Inc, and she had developed a revolutionary new method of blood testing, which "would change the world" (her quote). Allthewhile she was happy to take part in the media's spotlights, acting like she is the Steve Jobs of modern medicine. The media absolutely ADORED this femoid. Finally, they had the WORLDS FIRST FEMALE who built a valuable company. Or at least, they thought .

An investigative journalist exposed that her whole company was built on lies and false promises, and her whole house of cards fell apart JFL. Her patented technology turned out to be worthless, and she was accused of fraud. Her investors lost all their money and her name is ruined forever .

She was just indicted on Tuesday for all the wire fraud charges along with Balwani. She already stepped down as CEO and things aren't looking good here on out. Worst case scenario they get 10 years in jail probably on top of restitution for each wire fraud and conspiracy count, but even then that probably won't happen even if they have an ABUNDANCE of evidence. Both her and Balwani will probably avoid jail all together and just be to pay a hefty fine and pay restitution for whichever of the 2 Conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and 9 counts of wire fraud comes to light.

John Carreyrou from WSG did a great job providing investigative journalism on the technology behind her startup dating all the way back to 2015 until now. She was the figurehead of a unethical business practice and got close to incredibly notable people like Bill & Hillary Clinton, but wasn't competent enough to escape her own eventual downfall. She was good at abusing the publicity you get just for being rich and a woman though.

It is funny that the mass media will pretty much buy into any narrative a person wants to write if it's deemed acceptable at first glance, but considering there are men involved in this as well it's not really like some glaring evidence of the female gender being conniving or anything. At that if she wins the court case this pretty much means absolutely nothing. We'll see over the next decade if this continues though and I definitely see it being an upward trending topic.
