I knew that it wasn't legal, but goddamn, I never thought I'd potentially go to jail for it

They weren't even new games or anything, all I had was Morrowind and KOTOR 1

Sure, I downloaded Baldur's Gate 3 too, but I couldn't even play it since my graphics card wasn't up to date

They're probably monitoring my activity on .co too, that's probably how they found out about it :feelsohgod:

@bigantennaemay1 I guess your not gonna get that Morrowind review

That's all? They just threatened you to shut down your internet?
That's so random. I hope no one sold your infos and used this "downloaded for free game GO GET EM :fbi:" as a casus belli.
I have my Club Penguin pics on a spare usb stick that i can microwave asap in case someone shows up home.
Microwaves closed, feds. :lul:

If they shut down my internet I can't go on .co or watch TV

I also don't wanna risk going to jail, I don't belong there brocel :feelsrope:

Damn hasn't happened to me, i don't even use VPN. Enforcement of those rules probably varies from state to state. You probably live in a red state

lol bull chit

It was the government or your ISP?

They did sneak in some legislation in the COVID shit that made it a crime to pirate streamable content. Mostly likely it was your ISP and your mom was confused though.
I asked her whether it was the service provider and she said it was the FBI

It sounds crazy, I know, but it really did happen

It's not impossible if they're counting video games as "streamable content," which you do stream dl it on steam I guess. But seems farfetched.

Stay off public torrent trackers without a good VPN regardless.
I'm done man, I'm not gonna risk getting locked up for nobody

Tell the government to stop and it will stop, trust me

don't stress it too hard man. i've a fuckin detective that's visited my house, left a card wanting to "talk". fuck them

''oh no, look at this terrorist inkel, he just downloaded a random decade old vidyah, he must def be a threat to soyciety''
sometimes I wonder if those same good for nothing fed cucks could at the very least take their precious time to arrest the hundreds of thousands of normies who illegally pirate mainstream music

I did get my internet shut off from torrenting. Had to switch to cumcast

Too paranoid to torrent tbh. I just get used vidya or wait for Steam sales

microwaving wont destroy solid state memory. do you have any evidence that it will?

Diocel, you madman :lul:

depends on the state. in city/crowded areas no or very rare. but in rural red state areas more so

Paying for a VPN is a lot cheaper than going to jail. Using bittorrents without a VPN is like foid level stupid.

Consume Product

Hopefully this doesn't happen to me since I watch movies on free movie sites.

I use a free vpn that comes with my browser, dunno how effective it is though

Besides, my parents aren't going to buy me that shit

I used to get warnings from my ISP and my internet was temporary shut off from pirating.

I now use a VPN.

Where do you live?

Damn, I never even got the notification for this. And damn, that sucks, bro. I used to pirate games without VPN back in the day, but I stopped once I was able to get steady income. I never got any notices or anything. Dunno if things were different back then; haven't pirated in almost a decade, I think.:feelsbaton::feelstrash:

Ngl i once downloaded Up movie. I normally stream stuff but the torrent was HD and i didnt want to wait a week or two for the stream to get better quality so i downloaded sumotorrents or something like that and the very next week my mom got a letter tHat said our ptovider was going to slow down and monitor our intermet for a few weeks and if i download more illegal movies they would sue us

my mom was so furious and scared, she beat me good

Hmm I've torrented my entire life and never had any problems, weird.

I'm calling bullshit on this.

I know in some countries ISP's send letters to customers complaining if they torrent. They are supposed to do it in the UK but no one I know has had one. What we did have for years were "copyright trolls" where law firms would request IP data from ISP's and then send out letters to customers accusing them of watching porn films and saying they were being taken to court but they would avoid the court case if you paid up between a few hundred and a few thousand pounds. I think back in 2011-2012 the main law firm which did this basically got owned in court and destroyed and that was the last I heard of it in the news. In the UK the ISP's have been blocking torrent sites for years.

Piratebay, kickass torrents and a few others. It's always playing whack a mole with pirate bay mirrors though and piratebay had record traffic after the ban. They seemed to have given up whacking the mirrors.
