What's up with men and even friends completely disregarding sickness, eg. chronic disability or equivalent diseases, and going so far as to hint at executing the disabled? No joke!
I always wondered why genocide of so-called lesser men, the mentally disabled, schizophrenics, bipolar, etc., was so common throughout history, even up until the mid-late 20th century, and now I understand why. Men, even your good friends, are hyper competitive beings with a biological switch to reject stragglers and sickness in others. If they haven't dealt with sickness, they cannot relate, and survivorship deems sickness as weakness, and weak men are disadvantageous towards their survival; hence, outright rejection of the sick.
Catholic Saints were perhaps the only men to help sick men, and I have had many monks in my family, Catholicels. Perhaps that's why I always like talking to monks at my local monastery. They actually listen.
Post-Industrial retail/service economy Soyciety runs on egocentric individualism and mamonism. There's no advantage in helping sick people who remain sick, but there's also no advantage in curing sick people either.
