I know no one really wants to hear this, but slavery wasn't just a white on black thing. Every race at some time or another held slaves of other races or even of the same race. European explorers got their slaves from African slave traders who had already taken other Africans as slaves. Another thing that isn't talked about is the Arab slave trade which they had both African and European slaves. And the Arab slave trade was much more brutal. The Arab slave trade took place for much longer than the trans Atlantic slave trade and the Arabs took many more slaves, so why is there no large Afro-Arab population in the Middle East like there's a large Afro-American/Afro-Carribean population here in the west? It's because Arabs would castrate their male slaves. Also, for the most part, a white slave owner, if they had a slave that served for many years who ended up getting old and/or sick, they usually would let them stay on the property even though they were no longer useful as a slave, because they thought it was the Christian thing to do. Arab slave owners killed their slaves if they weren't useful.
Another thing was that whites were the first to recognize that slavery was wrong and to abolish it. And that ties into the another fact that it seems that white men seem to be the only ones, for the most part, concerned with ethics and rights. If not for whites, to be quite honest, slavery would be alive and well in 2019 C.E. No one else seems to care much about human (or animal) rights. I think Saudi Arabia only and reluctantly abolished slavery in 1965 after they were leaned on by western countries to do so and it still happens in many African and Middle Eastern countries as the laws against it may not be enforced or enforced only half assedly. Whereas in western countries, keeping slaves is a serious offense.
