I'm referring to just this one. Perhaps then I'll stay that it's too complicated for me to comprehend, nor do I think the reasons you've stated are the root of it. Society is absolutely changing and the internet has absolutely made it easier for people to engage sexually or enter relationships, but it's also created communities where people who aren't blessed with good looks can sit in an echo chamber and back each other up. Again, I totally get that - I have to force myself to read opinions and specifically engage with people I fundamentally disagree with because it's not easy and creates a lot of cognitive dissonance in me.

But there's more to it than that; ugly people and women rejecting them is a tale that you can find in pretty much any literature. Whole genres of movies in the 80's revolve around the fantasy of the outcast nerd types getting the girl and getting one up on their social superiors. It's always been here.
