Two of the women in the friend group ended up hitting it off and decided to explore a romantic relationship. Let’s call them Jane and Denise. Eventually Jane and Denise reached a point where they were ready for intimacy. It was during this time Denise disclosed she had a penis. Unfortunately Jane did not take it well and ended the relationship.
After this relationship Jane went to my friend and the other women in the friends group asking them to not allow Denise to return. She shared that she has a history of sexual assault by a person with a penis. She explained this group was a safe space for her and she no longer felt safe if Denise was present.
The reactions to this situation were divided. Some of the women sided with Jane and others sided with Denise. It created a larger conversation on genital preferences and sexuality. Some women in the group felt by definition being a lesbian means you are not sexually attracted to penises. Others felt it was in relation to identity not genitalia.
