"The world will end on (year)", "(group) will kill us", "(event) signals the world is over"
Why do we keep doing this? Why are we obsessed with the world ending? We're obsessed with our own deaths and an afterlife, but why the death of everyone?
Granted, a mass extinction event is much more likely. If you get the nuke launch codes, you can make the world end. But the world's goverments know this, and while they are incompetent, they're a group full of incompetent people with unrealistic confidence. It's not going to happen.
And if it happens, like, we'd... die. Does it matter beyond "who would survive this?" as a base hypothetical? Like who actually makes zombie shelters?
