Does this shit make any sense to you? Asked a professor for a thesis I could use as a model/example, was rejected.

I asked a professor (a woman, they're all women at this shit fucking degree with no value) to send me a thesis so I could use it as an example.

This professor currently teaches us a subject that's ALL about this shit. All about how to write a thesis.

So I write an email. Very nice, very very polite. I ask for a thesis I could use as an example. And the fucking bitch answers back "sorry, can't do it. I can't vouch for any thesis AND I don't think sending you one would be the right thing to do". I have my own fucking topic, nobody else has this topic, what difference does it fucking make if I had an example of an entirely different fucking topic?

What the fuck? Does this make any sense to you? WHY WOULDN'T you want your students to have an example? Instead she fucking keeps pedantically talking about all kinds of aspects about the thesis, really petty fucking bullshit like formatting and what not. And yet she won't send me something I could use as a model?

I can find all kinds of thesis online, but this fucking university is fucking anal. All these weird rules and specific ways of doing things. Ffs I knew it would be like that so I avoided enrolling for the master's in this uni (cause I did my bachelor's here). And so I went to another uni that was supposed to be more lax. And yet when I was supposed to start, that program shut down cause nobody signed up for that meme degree. So I had to quickly enroll in this uni that's giving me fucking cancer from all the fucking stress over this useless shitty fucking degree that I won't ever fucking use cause it's so god damn fucking useless.

also throwback to my first talk with my male supervisor for my Masters Thesis. It literally boiled down to "Be sure to have look at {list of 3 theses of former Students from him} in the Library.". Lel

Nah, she knows I won't copy. She knows I CAN'T copy. Every student has their own very specific subject. No thesis is like the other, they're all so, so different. But having a model is still very useful for getting the petty shit they are so anal about just right.

Tbh I can't fathom how petty a fucking human being has to be to withhold such shit. It's not fucking nuclear codes, it's a fucking scientific paper, it should be fucking public knowledge.

(damn, I can't believe I've been in uni for 7 years now when I include those 2 after which I dropped out. And I was in classes with a majority of females too. And yet surrounded by so many women my age, I never even went out on a date or held hands or kissed or hugged any of them. Shit, and in the adult world it's much harder to meet people).

Not experiencing any specific problems yet because I haven't really started (although on top of all the other million projects and tests, they're making us rush this shit too). It's just that this university is so incredibly pedantic and anal about meaningless shit. There's no room for individuality or creativity, but my thought and working process isn't compatible with that. I'm a guy who just wings it, I don't like all this petty shit. BUT, I understand that this is a flaw so I want to rectify it by having a good thesis as an example. But the fucking things apparently are guarded like Fort mother fucking Knox, cause in this god damn country everybody is a god damn crab in a mother fucking bucket, gotta make it harder for everybody else for no damn good reason.

- "oh you know all about that too, huh" bitchy response when i started talking about a concept
- implying how something's hard when it was just some basic calculus, but he really just wanted to make sure I did that part all by myself
- generously promising he'll show me some code from another student, then never doing it
- asking me to do extra work on my thesis, not because the thesis demands it, but because he might use it as part of another project

it's been a shitshow for a long time, profs love making students work for free, and are just coasting through the day or focusing on publishing their nonsense papers over everything else

Ohh dude, I totally agree. During my bachelor's I was a fucking target for this shit, cause I'm so introverted I guess so I'm an easy target to take advantage of. They made me do the experimental part of my thesis on like 400 subjects iirc, if not 500. The entire university. Instead of the usual 20 or 40 or whatever number normal people do. And they did that for some project of theirs that had nothing to do with me. All that extra work when all I really wanted is to be done with this shit asap. Now that I've graduated with that shitty and useless diploma in a meme social science, I'll never use it again. Shit, I'm reluctant to even put it on my CV, but I have nothing else to put there.
