Cows specifically
Here in Croatia cows are mostly milk/meat types. When they dont produce milk anymore, its butcher time

But theyre always in a small 3 x 4m box with a small bowl and some hay at the front. Theyre like that 24/7. In a barn, stinky, maybe the windows get opened, some light but thats it.

being free range would be a hard thing since you have to go from cow to cow to milk them.

Does this affect the meat quality? 4 years in a small box and eating hay?

Grain fed vs grass fed is a major difference

yes, it also changes eggs from chickens and the milk from cows too as well as meat

Free range cows(their natural habitat) eat grass and are usually leaner meanwhile pen raised cows eat exclusively grain and corn which results in unhealthier and fattier cattle.
I drink raw milk, and you can almost taste the stagnant farm smell in pen raided cows compared to the completely pure free range cows.

Ofc it does.

yeah eggs are usually bigger, more delicious and more nutritious when they can walk around and eat some grass

obviously, grass fed is a major difference in taste

For eggs it makes a big difference. But for meat the difference is a lot smaller according to Stan Efferding.
