In my opinion, incels of the past were probably less attractive as compared to the incels of today considering that inceldom was probably less common back then as compared to now. The vast majority of men in the past were likely able to find partners due to a greater presence of religion, a more favorable gender ratio, and women being dependent on men. This means that the select few men who were unable to find partners in the past, likely have some major defects that caused them to become an incel. This is in stark contrast to the current situation, where societal and cultural changes, especially in the western world, have caused plenty of otherwise normal men to become incels.
