Do you think he saw him as a true friend or just a coworker?

friend but not a friend he would die for, just a friend

Yes, he considered Mussolini to be his teacher and I think he genuinely loved him as a friend.

Mussolini on the hand never truly trusted Hitler.

Hitler looked up to Mussolini and wanted to model the Nation Socialist party after Mussolini and the National Fascist Party

I dont think

He hated too much the slavs and joos to want to be like him, besides that italians are barely white, you just have to look what he thought about spaniards also

We're talking about 1940s geopolitics here, why would he have cared for Mussolini as a person

Not really. The Nazis looked down upon Italian Fascism for not being strict on jews, and they forced the Italians to persecute jews (which they did only half-heartedly), in the end outright taking over the operation in Italy when Mussolini fell.

Also Italians in general were not included in Hitler's brand of Nordicism. He likely saw them as a middle race, and thus inferior to Germans.

True yes I mostly just said this due to the fact of Hitler using elements from Italian Fascism combined with unique things from Hitler, and he viewed the march on Rome in 1922 as a model to emulate (we can see that with the 1923 beer hall putsch). I agree with you though
