I know what it means but when people here say there's a correlation they don't just mean ''oh, you know, it's just another factor'', they mean that it's an important part and that it's much more likely to find a good looking person with a high IQ than an ugly person with one, I've heard this over and over on this site and I think that's it's at best an exaggeration.

There are more ugly people so of course it's more likely to find someone ugly with high IQ.
But between a goodlooking person and an ugly person, it's more likely that the first one has higher IQ. That's what the data says, that's the correlation.

I am ugly. I crush the vast majority of individuals I encounter when it comes to standardized testing. But I alone am not representative of the population.

Your IQ has to be in the 99th percentile for it to be "high"? Someone with a 95th percentile IQ doesn't count?

OP, welcome to the world of statistics. I recommend that you read up on hypothesis testing before you proceed further.

School grades are possibly influenced by the Halo effect. What you need to do is to conduct a blind trial where a randomly selected pool of subjects take a computer-graded test. Then you take a panel of volunteers who individually grade (to avoid peer pressure) the attractiveness of those subjects. Once you have controlled for race, gender, age, educational attainment, and socioeconomic status, you crunch the numbers to find if there exists any correlation, and whether such a correlation is statistically significant using a goodness of fit test.

I definitely agree that there is a correlation between being successful and good looking, but being successful is not the same thing as being inteligent. Your idea is good but I don't see myself wasting time to know wheter or not there is a correlation, but I will see if in the future someone does.
