As much evidence as we have there is still this nagging feeling that there is SOMETHING. I lean towards reincarnation these days. Eternal nothingness is scary ngl.
See, that's something I've thought of often, how would a consciousness just vanish? It doesn't make any sense and if I try to think about it logically then it's just a blank. That's why I think that there has to be something after death.explain how consciousness would suddenly begin and end to exist.
Yes I do, there is nothing and our lives are completely meaningless
Well, no one can tell what comes after death.
But no one needs to be afraid of "eternal nothingness".
What did you do all the time before you were born?
Was it scary?
There it is. There you have your answer.
In what sense that person would be "you" ?when i die i might find myself in a maternity ward in a hospital on the other side of the world, or perhaps even as another sentient being on some distant planet
i worded it poorly, of course it wouldn't be "me"In what sense that person would be "you" ?
I mean, what would be the difference between that baby being "you" and that same baby being "not you" ?
I think that baby will be, that's all, saying it would be you doesn't mean anything sensible or plausible (you can't seriously imagine that it will have your memories, for instance).
It's like saying "I wish I was some celebrity, like say Tom Cruse." What does that even mean ? You exist, and Tom Cruse exists. If anything about Tom Cruse were to change so that it's more like you, then it's not really Tom Cruse. What you probably mean is that you wish your body was swapped with Tom Cruse's. Anything else doesn't make much sense.
Is it really somethingnothing is something
