idk i just find it pointless to have a separate saves idk what's the reason even I only do it when I wanna try something to make sure my main save doesn't mess up.

I usually keep to like 3 saves unless it is a story game then I have a save at the start of each chapter along with my 3 saves
I always keep extra saves in case one gets corrupted.
Fallout and Elder Scrolls I have multiple saves any other game I just overwrite.
Typically I'll run 2 alternating saves incase one gets corrupted, if the autosaves are generous I might just have one manual save, and if the game is notorious for corrupting saves and crashing I'll use as many as I can.

Separate saves and if I'm doing a second run I go with one save because I already know all the events that'll happen.
i played Skyrim with only one save once and my save corrupted and nearly broke my PS3.
Separate saves. It makes replays and trophy/achievement hunting easier.
