Empathy is selective which makes it as disgusting as everything else. Chosen end up on receiving end of it while unfortunate don't.

I'm peting my cat while it eats killed animals I don't care about. Tons of beings die every day including humans and we don't care.

yes, a lot. but in a different way than others i think. i wouldn't wish pain on others, even on foids (well, i wouldn't wish more pain upon them than what i myself have endured). but if i had a button to exterminate the human race, i would press it in a heartbeat

I honestly don't know. I try to be nice to people, since it's the most nature and easiest option. I'd consider myself an utilitarian in politics, but I don't really care much about other people as individuals and think of it as an abstract pieces on a chessboard.

No idea if that makes sense though.

I know I have cognitive empathy. I'm able to read people pretty well. I'm good at reading facial expressions, body language etc, and I'm able to accurately guess what someone believes based on very little info (though to be fair it really isn't that hard). I can also read people's intentions pretty well. I don't understand how someone can lack cognitive empathy completely though. How do you not have at least a basic theory of mind? You'd have to be a severely autistic solipsist or something.

But as far as affective empathy goes...mine is extremely low to say the least.

yeah that's basically just autistic and really low-IQ people.

But as far as affective empathy goes...mine is extremely low to say the least.

I have both, but I wish I had the ability to permanently get rid of them. Having empathy is a huge disadvantage in this modern era.

I've never been diagnosed with anything...but that's certainly a very strong possibility. Like if I do have a mental disorder, that would be the most likely one.
