Not having a license must be a non-american/3rd world thing, because virtually everyone in the USA has a license. It acts as an ID card for virtually everything, so it good to get even if you don't drive. In America, public transport it spotty and whats there is not safe to ride as a single white man in alot of areas. Also, America is SUPER spread out, and you need to drive to get anywhere. Here in Cleveland it is especially spread out because we cant expand northward due to Lake Erie.
That said, I got mine at 19, which is considered extremely late for USA. Here, most people had them by 16.

I was only once behind the wheel. Driving in my city is super pointless (not enough parking space, cheap/good public transport, bus lanes) so I wouldn't have any motivation to do it regularly.
It seems fun enough, but the overall cost of owning and using a car is too high to justify it in my situation.

Consent to sex is 16 in my state (Ohio), same as driving. Though your statement stands in alot of states. Driving is not particularly hard, so I'm ok with our order. Car insurance is INSANE when you're 16 though since you're a huge liability.

In Europe it's much harder to get it than in USA. In some (most?) European countries you need to pass medical exams, theory tests, a first-aid course and what not before you even get in a car. Then you need to have a minimum time of practical training and pay for it. Then you get to the final driving test which you may or may not pass.
It's expensive and time consuming and you can fail it several times (thus costing even more money).
I knew a guy who failed it multiple times and spent a ton of money and time on it (and still drove like shit).

My car is broken down and needs repairs that I cannot afford, I need driving lessons I cannot afford, I need insurance I cannot afford. I want to get my eye fixed before I start driving because I really don't want to be wearing an eyepatch when I first start out on the road...
