I guess it depends on how you look at it, on one hand you could say the author could just write a world where sexy anime foids are mainly attracted to ugly men. But then you could also argue that it doesn’t really work that way.

But I mean, who’s to say we aren’t apart of some form entertainment ourselves controlled by a first party? We could be millionaires that were abducted by aliens back in 1998 and have been hooked up to a simulation ever since, or we could be NPCs apart of some planet sized computer. Hell, that’s more plausible than a god lol.
