i also don't think it's the beginning and the end of everything. there was a rich kid in our neighborhood who got his ass kicked A LOT, we heard it when we went past his house and shit. he turned out fine and had many GFs. his parents knew a lot of people too and made sure he was successful.

Beating children would probably doom most of them to becoming extremely high-inhib due to an ingrained fear of punishment. I doubt most young kids would even know why they are being punished, so it's not like being beaten would teach them anything useful because they probably don't know what they did wrong in the first place. Instead of learning to act better, they would likely just learn to become more withdrawn to avoid punishment.

I am an adult now , and I still am a very anxious person , with little to no confidence. And I still hate studying.

Being scolded is usually enough.
I used to think that being beaten as a kid was what made me into the twisted person i'm now. But now i realise it was actually the mental humiliation and torture that hurt more than any physical scar i had. The thought of standing there getting slapped and punched around by someone drunk on their own authority and power (that comes from being a parent/guardian) and exercising it freely on some small kid makes me shake from anger. I can't believe i didn't crack my mother's skull with my bare hands every time she said i was only her possession and anything good i do or did was attributed to her since "she raised me in her image" while anything "bad" was just a result of my own weakness and inferiority. I'd definitely go to jail if that happened again to me.
