Used to be such a big genre in the 2000s now nobody plays or talks about them. Gaming is so lonesome now.
No it's basically a dead genre. Not even incel nerds play them anymore, while normies have all moved on to battle Royale games and GTA online

The only fun thing in mmos are grinding until you reach your greatest reward and stats, I've been there before and had to take a break from it or retire completely. Now I love playing games with high replayability.

There is no good mmo to play. Wow became too disney like(imo gameplay would be acceptable in an og setting, more dark and grim rather, than current cartoon-like and gay), guild wars 2 is fine but I just can't get past living seasons content it is so boring... Also the community is hard to get into for new players, like all the newbie friendly guild are gay asf(literally), lost ark is cool if you like p2w chink slop, FF14 can't tell bcs I just can't get into it, albion online is dying, new world is dead, idk what else but still there isn't a mmo worth getting into rn imo, I was hopis chris metzen would set wow on a right track but blizzard is too pozzed corpo to make a based expansion, I hope they are losing money now and wow 2 will be based again... But I seriously doubt it's gonna happen. Maybe Ashes of creation will be next big thing but I doubt it too.
All MMO's are now infested with troons and third worlders. Not worth bothering with.

I remember trying to get into Star Wars The Old Republic numerous times and always dropping it.
The game is boring as hell with repetitive combat just spamming number keys for different attacks while your NPC partner heals you (basically immortal) and do repetitive quests about killing enemy groups, destroying generators, etc.
A shame because graphics, OST and story were good but ruined by terrible gameplay.

Osrs, ffxiv and WoW still have active playerbases but its normie/troon central. The most based of the three is osrs though.

I play RuneScape 3 iron man, main was just boring, started Old School but it is a bit more demanding, more quality of life and easier levelling with RS3
