I didn't have my father present during my childhood. I saw him like 5 times through it.

I had my grandfather, which was a father figure for a while but he died when I was 9 so the most crucial years were devoid of a figure like that.

I never really liked any of my stepfathers so I didn't consider them a father figure, but rather antagonists/unwanted presences. If you're willing to marry a single mom you're pretty much invariably trash anyway so it doesn't even count as a remotely proper father figure.

A weak father figure is better than no father figure. In many black families, the father is absent. While the reasons may vary as to why theres no father one thing that is commonly agreed on is that it 100 percent affects the child in one way shape or form. My father was there but there were MANY things that he did wrong that put me where I am today. Both my mother and father are terrible with money and frequent ask for loans.
