Did you ever get a warning from your ISP for torrenting files?

In my country Spain like everywhere else downloading movies, games, music or whatever copyrighted material from torrent is illegal but nobody gives a fuck, I've used torrent clients and emule for more than 15 years and never got a warning kek. From time to time police shuts down some torrent website to say "hey look we're working on it" but soon you get another site or just use foreign sites. However my uncle from Canada back in 2009 tried to torrent a movie and next month he got a letter from his ISP saying that this was a warning but the next time they catch him they're gonna cut his internet and sue him :worryfeels: Is this really common or did he just have bad luck? Because then I see why VPNs are so popular in Anglo countries kek.

I am above the law when it comes to torrenting

ive never used a vpn before in my life when I torrent

I don't know the US rules about it but I still do it and so far nothing's happened to me.

Yes I can confirm this for Canada. I don't know at what point they actually cut off your internet but I got 2 emails like that a while back and since then I always make sure to have my VPN on when torrenting. I literally torrent everything I watch (except Youtube).

Piratebay is blocked by ISPa due to legislation . Ofc its reachable via ToR but normies dont understand copying and pasteing magnet links. Good let them pay for netflix and youtube premium and watch all the ads they deserve it.

But Im very worried abt intetnet freedom. In new zealand they force ISP to block content that spreads stuff like the mosque shooting. I dont care about polirics but dont tread on my internet. You dont want to see my powerlevel

No, but Mossad mailed me a proposal to monitor .is :feelsdevil:

You only get letters for Hollywood shit. Japanese anime they don’t give a fuck about.

No, but then again I only really torrent obscure jap porn games so I doubt they care.

You too? בתחבולות תעשה לך מלחמה

Nope, never. Been torrenting for years too.

if you torrent hella recent shit, then yea they'll probably take it more seriously. i was too lazy to use a vpn when i downloaded 1917 and i got an email from my isp the next day. my dad used to torrent literally fucking everything and apparently got a lot of emails from the isp but that's just what my mom told me.

I got one for a video game torrent so I know Nintendo is in with the copyright police. I just download from websites now instead of torrenting.

If I could pirate my oneitis I would.

EU doesn't give a shit tbh

yeah every time lol

i just keep doing it, idc, for the $75 a month im paying they can suck my balls

Not using a vpn is like fuking without a condom (not that id know) it just feel better :soy::soy::soy: but u might get an std :feelsmage::feelsmage::feelsmage:

a long time ago they would actually shut off my internet and i would have to call them to get it restored, hasn't happened in years though

It's definitely becoming more common as time goes on, because lawyers have streamlined the process so basically it send out automatic e-mails to ISPs based on a bot script by sniffing the IPs participating in a torrent swarm.

Happened to me a couple years ago, which is why I switched from using public torrents to direct transfer via IRC's XDCC process. When you do that, the only one with access to your IP address is the bot hosting the file, and not any random sniffer.

If you are going to use torrents, you should try and reduce it to stuff not available by other means (ie no IRC bots have it) and where possibly use private trackers where you can't access the swarm without registering and logging in. That usually makes it too complicated for newbie lawyers (thought not impossible) and cuts down on the possibility your ISP will be contacted.

It's less likely to happen with files not being marketed to the west, though with places like Crunchyroll registering 90% of the shit anime it's going to happen more and more often unless you prioritize torrenting more obscure older stuff they don't bother with.

That's getting rarer though, Crunchy even grabbed stuff I thought only I knew about like Machiko

I tried to pirate doom 2016 and got a warning

yeah. I replied and told em to suck these balls

Happened to me before, they sent an email threatening they were gonna "sue" me or whatever.

The joke is on thosecorporate retards though, since I just ignored their empty thread and continued to torrent everything. :feelshaha:
