I remember that guy. I'd love to see any proof he admitted he was scamming. I would love to believe it is possible to succeed while short and ethnic. But I'm skeptical either way.

No even remotely successful PUA ever was a manlet or ugly. Mystery, Julien Blanc, even Tyler Durden, all of them are at least average both on height and face.

I met Tyler in the mid 2000s. He was pretty bald and ugly even back then. But he's also a terribly ineffective PUA and very awkward IRL. He has suffered with depression and frustration and burnout at the lack of his own results throughout his career. He has admitted so himself many times.
He eventually learned the best strategy - use his ugliness as a "poster" for his company to say "if I can do it, you can too!" but then hire handsome men to be his instructors and work in the field.
One of the worst realizations of committing yourself to PUA is there is no progressive skill you can build and you can't get better past a very early point of improvement. It's not like playing a guitar or learning to code. You will plateau very quickly and that plateau is determined by your looks.
At least Tyler can kiss some cute girls, that much is proven on camera. Unless it's all fake/paid actresses.
PUA is extremely frustrating if you're bellow average in looks and really buy that "looks don't matter" bullshit. I remember making tons of approaches after reading dozens of PUA books and watching tons of PUA content and getting ridiculously meager results. Day game is even more of a joke, I never ever got even a number from it. Only way above average men can pull something like that.
The only positive thing about PUA is that it gets average man to mass approach and that's something that can work well if you're 4-6/10.

Sure. Tyler was a 3.5-4/10 5'8" white guy when I met him (possibly he was wearing lifts). It is ABSOLUTELY possible for any guy in this range to kiss girls using PUA spam tactics. It was easier back then too since that was before the Tinder era etc.
But videos are meaningless unless it is a single take of his whole night. These guys go out 4 hours 3-4 nights a week hitting on women, every week of their lives. At 20 girls a night (minimum) that adds up to thousands of girls very quickly.
Even if only 0.1% kisses you, if you're recording it all constantly for videos, it's easy to get lots of "successes".
This is not black and white. PUA has valid points. I've said before. If you're ugly and want to get laid without paying, spamming women IRL at clubs is honestly actually one of your best possible approaches to make. Because they have to acknowledge you face to face, and there's a chance they might actually like you in motion or from your social skills.
It's much better odds than going online. I had some okay results in IRL club approach. I've also done okay in speed dating situations.
I've had zero success online.

PUA spam tactics work somewhat if you're at least a 4/10. I tried it once, got drunk and spam approached with basic "cocky and funny" game at a college party. After like 50 approaches I got to kiss an ugly mulatto female, my Chadlite friend encouraging her helped a lot. She quickly dispatched me after a minute or so though.
But that level of effort for that results are not worth it at all IMO, even though I agree that's the best strategy for bellow average but not totally hideous truecel men.
Online game is definitely useless unless you're AT LEAST average. Never even heard of a bellow average guy accomplishing anything worthy though it.

It is exactly as you say. It's a matter of effort and whether or not you find it worthwhile. But it will work eventually if you hit on enough of them.
There are no good options. It's about picking the least shitty option. People underrate the value of cold approach in that context. Cold approach and speed dating are probably the absolute best approaches for ugly men.
