Did the sprint button ruin Minecraft?

Having a sprint button is nice but to monkey paw balance it the game forces you to eat food every 10 fucking seconds so you can continue sprinting. The hunger bar is so fucked I don't know why people even enjoy modern Minecraft.

Tough to earn though, so I've heard. Have not gotten it yet and maybe don't want it either.

Besides, you literally kill a dragon which tries to protect its eggs, afaik, in one of the "quests" so I never did that.

As for OP, it never bothered me. But if hunger is a problem for you, you can mod it, I am sure.

And now there's Happy Ghasts as well. They make building in survival even more like creative mode. There is still some finesse with them though, enough to make them somewhat fun.

happy ghasts are very slow so I don't mind them as much as elytras where you can just travel insanely fast with fireworks

That's true, at least it gave you a reason to farm. I guess what I don't like is the stupid standing animation of eating and I hate the noise it makes. If it was consuming food like in the old Java edition where it made no noise or anything and was instant I wouldn't mind.
