Why are people so adamant on protecting democracy when 99.9% of the population doesn’t do the proper research about politics. For god’s sake, the Prime Minister of my country (Trudeau) was first elected for the simple fact that he was handsome (SO MANY WOMEN VOTED HIM FOR THAT REASON ITS GENUINELY BAFFLING) and that he wanted to legalize marijuana.

Let’s be fair, most of us don’t really know who is truly the best candidate in an election. At the end of the day we can only judge by how charismatic he is and compelling of a person he is. Unsurprisingly, most of the time it’s nothing but a fabricated lie meant to sway the population towards his side.

Literally ask a random normie or foid about politics. They have ZERO knowledge and only regurgitate things that come from the media. Most people don’t form their own opinions. What’s the point of a democracy if such a large pool of the population is an apolitical drone YET they will STILL vote in the next election.

Not only that, but they only get elected for 2-5 years which means they have no time for long-term plans that can help the nation in a meaningful way. The only incentive a government in a democracy has is to make very short term plans in order to gain enough support for the next election (for example printing a shit ton of money, sending STIMMY checks. Short term gains for long term pain. Thats how Trudeau and the liberals won).

Whats the alternative ruling system you wish ?

Socrates said it thousands of years ago:

"If you need any recommendation regarding your health, then you go and see a specialist i.e. a doctor. If you need to get your shoe stitched, even then you need a shoe specialist. Similarly you need specialists for every work whether it is big or as small as a shoe stitching. Then how can you say that choosing a government or regulating a state could be done by common people and not specialists? Giving a right to vote to every other citizen whether he/she is uneducated, uninformed, could be manipulated easily by leaders is thus not appropriate".

I believe we live in a century where democracy will truly be put to the test and will die out.
