since the Assad government got help to retake a lot of the territories and then war got frozen, they had years to rebuild their armed forces, prepare for next stage of war, but they didn't. This whole offensive shown how rotten and Incapable Assad rule is, nobody want's to fight for him, his armed forces just abandon their positions with their equipment and run.
