in the wild, we don’t see chimps (our closest ancestors) cry like humans do. Tear production is exclusive to human primates (true). Therefore, I theorize that babies were the first to do this in certain cut throat environments to increasingly signal distress when born. Then because foids saw the attention babies got from it, they did the same. And because most foids got to reproduce, this is what was passed on.
Humans were given evolutionary advantages by being able to become more sad because depression helps with problem solving (true). Depression slows you down, makes you take less risk, makes you higher inhib, and introspective (true). Then this got passed onto men, but always remember, foids had if first.
Who knows what really happened, most of what I said is true though. But..
