Has anyone else experienced this?
On quora and reddit more people talk about the phenomenon:
Is it normal that people cough a lot around me? Wherever I go, people clear their throats and cough like they have a flu when I'm around.

"This happens to me a lot. It's usually because of the vibe you give off. You'll know when a cough is natural and when it's an expression of awkwardness. I make people awkward because I don't speak much at all and most of the time, my face is unnatural (i have social anxiety). And to make things worse, I don't sound like the stereotypical introvert… when I speak I sound kinda confident so it sells me as this weird suspicious fake personality. It really helps when I fake myself as uncomfy and inconfident, and the others are thinking like “Oh yeah, just the average introvert. He's fine.” It's about coming off normal and usual, people are scared of uncertainty." - Abrar Ur Alam
"Yes I know what you mean, the air could be clean and crisp and people cough around me, it even seems to happen over a live video feed, to this day I have never understood why. I believe it has something to do with your energy you give off" - Conrad Desjarlais
