Coworker threw a fit because I wasn't "friendly" or didn't talk to him

This isn't really a rant but I just find this funny.

At my job I work in the deli and we also have a hot bar.

For the moment I had back to back customers wanting 12 pc chicken. After that last customer. This coworker from another department walk up and just said "I want 12 pc". Okay, I package it up and handed it to him. I was getting ready to walk away.

He threw a fit "You need a personality. You didn't say one word to me"

You came up because you wanted your chicken, you got it. What more do you want?

Another thing, in the past when he pass by me. He never say a word to me or make small talk. Really, I just treat him the way he treat me.

I swear people are so entitled. You know how many time I didn't get "friendly" greetings in the past? Lost count and don't care.

If I were in his shoes and threw a fit like him. I would get the whole "you are not entitled to people's friendliness" or "maybe they had a bad day, you should be understanding to others"

or you'd get the "You have to earn people's friendliness, you don't automatically get it." Like the "you have to earn respect, you aren't entitled to it."
