One of the easiest ways to determine whether a country has developed organically over centuries or is an artificial country is to look at its population. If a country's population is 10 million or less, this indicates that it's a remnant of a great empire and should be treated as an imperial remnant, not as an independent nation state in its own right. Such countries should be absorbed by the major powers surrounding them.

Here are my proposals for some of these countries:

-Lebanon, Palestine and Israel should join Syria (Historical Bilad al-Sham)

-Moldova should join Romania

-The Baltic states, Belarus and Ukraine (minus Novorossiya) should join Poland (Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth)

-Historical Novorossiya should join Russia (Russian Empire)

-Austria and Hungary should unite. Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic should join them (the Austro-Hungarian Empire)

-The entire Balkans should join Turkey (the Ottoman Empire)

I believe my proposals are fair and reasonable given the history of these countries. What do you think?

Grouping countries together as “imperial remnants” makes no sense. I agree to some extent that extremely small countries shouldn’t exist, but they should be grouped together based on genetics and shared cultural/civilizational heritage

You're right about genetics, but culturally/civilisationally, the Balkans are a mix of East and West and are not entirely Western like the UK or Germany.

Istanbul has been the cultural, economic and political capital of the Balkans for centuries. Since Turkey controls Istanbul, it is the natural leader of the region.

Nothing that can't be resolved with a little political will. Armenians also hate Turks, but recently they initiated a normalisation process under Pashinyan's administration. If Armenians can do it, anyone can.

Even today, Turkey's image in the Balkans is not that bad. Erdogan is quite popular in many Balkan countries according to polls:

I considered this too, but I don't think it would work in the long run. Even if you united all the Slavic countries in the Western Balkans, you would end up with a population of roughly 14 million, a median age of 40-43, and fertility rate of 1.5-1.6 children per woman.

(I didn't include Croatia and Slovenia in this calculation because I don't consider them to be Balkan.)

With stats like these, they wouldn't be able to produce anything of value or even protect themselves from external forces. Turkey's involvement would still be required to create a respectable regional power worthy of independence.
