Acetaldehyde is produced from alcohol in the liver. Acetaldehyde is bad because it contributes to many of the health problems associated with alcohol, and is responsible for alcohol hangover. A way to tell if you have this enzyme deficiency is if you get a red face easily from alcohol, which includes me. So basically, compared to others, if I drink alcohol, I get more negative effects from it. Brutal when genetics make it harder to cope.
