For the past 10 years I've been constantly rereading information. Wrote something down? Rereading it over and over to make sure every single word is in it's right place. Is this common? What causes this? Sometimes when I even sound out every word individually to make sure it's correct. It's not grammar I care about, it's making sure I properly absorb the information.

try using this

copy and paste a wikipedia article and set the words per minute to something comfortable for you like 250 wpm or less.Do it like once a day and you'll get better at reading faster and absorbing information.

keep going even if you miss words, this helped me out quite a bit before.
