I don't think people realize how fast the field of AI and robotics is evolving. China has seen more than 10.000 humanoid robotics companies founded since 2023, and there are more humanoid robot companies in China than there are people working on humanoids in America.
Recently a Chinese team of robotics engineers launched its first product, the NIA-F01. It's a humanoid robot equipped with AI, measuring 56 cm tall and weighing 1.2 kg, with an anime-style appearance.
And guess how much it costs? It's 9,999 yuan or $1,400
The NIA-F01 also supports replacement facial accessories, hair, and clothing. In addition to the replacement accessories included with the product, you can also purchase wigs and clothing to meet your needs :
The robot is also capable of detecting the user's gestures and surroundings through the camera built into its eyes in order to respond to their emotional needs. It uses the Emotional Resonance Engine algorithm to integrate large multimodal AI models and a database containing several emotional expression actions for this purpose. The surface is covered with a silicone material that closely resembles skin, and the skeleton is divided into a total of 34 joints, allowing it to move.
However, apart from these features, it cannot solve problems but this launch marks a drastic shift from humanoid robots as functional tools to emotional companions.
