It's confirmed. The manga's ending next chapter, this is what we got with 231, and the entire fandom is going through its own 9/11 right now.

I didn't expect this week's chapter to have me posting on /a/ more fervently than I've done on this forum for the last few weeks, but here we are. I highly doubt anyone had predicted this, and there's absolutely no telling what will happen in the epilogue chapter. Hell, there isn't even agreement on what exactly happened in this chapter:feelshaha:, and frankly, everything now depends solely on how Fujimoto will wrap things up in the last chapter to a level I don't think we've seen with a manga series for a long time.

Anyway, as for some of my thoughts on what we might see in two weeks, from how I understand this:

Possibility One - Pochita's power works the same as always. No or minimal retroactive changes after a concept is erased.

Not even worth discussing, just including this here to talk about how bullshit it is. He explicitly talks about a world "where I never existed". If he had just erased himself and that was it, Denji would still be eaten by the Bug Devils and the Apocalypse would still be in full swing due to bugs overrunning the planet and eating everyone and everything without the concept of death existing, which blatantly isn't happening when we see the cut to the shack from the beginning, whose only change from chapter 1 is that, as people on both 4chan and Reddit have pointed out, is that the tree seems to have been cut with an axe instead of a chainsaw.

Possibility Two - Pochita retroactively erased his existence, but only his existence as he isn't the "Devil Devil".

This is the wild one. Pochita's power had changed a lot of things in the world of CSM, and the protagonist's fate is just one of many. Speaking of Denji... he's only alive because of Pochita and the regenerative abilities being the Chainsaw Hybrid gave him. In the first chapter, he was about to die in a few years from the health issues he inherited from his mother, and had only one eye and one ball left. Without Pochita, he should still be Yakuza's debt slave, and probably killed and sold for organs a long time ago, or forced to prostitute himself to pay off his father's debts. Either way, extreme dick move from Pochita to basically just tell him "Well, you'll suffer but keep dreaming bro:soy:."

Without Pochita ever having existed, there's no one to have fought the Horsemen. AFAIK, and I could be wrong there, Makima is the incarnation of the Control Devil that was reborn on Earth after her death at Pochita's chainsaws, meaning that the Control Devil should still be in her incarnation previous to that. Yoru was never weakened and should still be nukes-tier, while there's no indication that Pochita ever killed Fami and Death, so the two of them should still be in Hell being a happy family with Control's previous incarnation and War in her real form.

Power should still exist, nothing about Pochita's existence really affects whether the OG human girl gets ER'd and her corpse taken over by the Blood Devil. On the other hand, I've seen people point out that there's good reason to believe that Gun's rampage on Earth wouldn't have happened without Pochita and his fight with the Horsemen, though I don't remember the exact argument right now. Regardless, if that's true, Aki's family should still be alive, meaning that if Fujimoto plans for the somehow still-alive Denji to join the Public safety again in the epilogue, only Power should still be there, if she was even recruited instead of being killed like most other Devils would be.

As for the setting at large, everything Pochita ever erased should now be back. That includes WWII, the Nazis, and all the random supernatural stuff like humans' sixth sense, the star breaking children's minds, and and various alternatives to death, at least one of which (turning into trees) we know is still possible even after its devil was erased and with it being explicitly said to not be caused by any devil power, but to be something humans in CSM verse can simply do.

All in all, the setting will be even crazier than ever, and Denji's life even shittier (if he's even alive in its "present time").

Possibility Three - Pochita is the "Devil Devil" Fujimoto didn't want to talk about in that interview, and him eating himself deleted all Devils and the concept of them.

This is something a notable minority of people seem to believe is happening in the chapter. That Pochita hasn't deleted just himself, but all Devils.

Honestly, this is just somewhat better than the first option. It's much more likely for sure, but just barely better, as it makes the story itself barely relevant anymore. In-story, I guess it would be great, humans wouldn't be menaced by Devils who we know are canonically responsible for a third of all human deaths, so their nonexistence would be a massive boon for humanity. Denji, however, would, as in any other scenario, be a Yakuza debt slave dying to genetic heart problems, only in this verse there would be no chance of him using the supernatural entities populating the verse to get himself out of that situation.

Also, speaking of supernatural, there's no reason why the supernatural things Pochita erased wouldn't exist whether devils do or not. Devils are created by the fear of already existing concepts or phenomena, they don't create them. As far as we know, the sixth sense, the mind-breaking star, the alternatives to death and other things he might've erased are simply facts of life in that verse, completely independent of devils, and without Pochita, they should still exist even in this scenario.

Also, Fumiko has been repeatedly shown to be immune to the memory-altering part of Pochita's concept erasing power. Assuming that the concept of devils hadn't gotten erased, she should still remember everything that had happened, which would fit with how she was already the narrator for parts of the manga near the end. Would be funny if she were the last chapter's narrator. Likewise, the Horsemen should have at least some idea of what had happened, and maybe the Primals as well.

This made me laugh:forcedsmile:.

I stopped reading Part 2 like a year ago because of how utterly retarded the plotline was. The Chainsaw Man Church arc alone was one of the worst pieces of modern writing I have ever seen. I have no clue how anyone managed to power through that trash. What's worse is that I used to unironically be just like every other braindead zoomer that would endlessly hype the series and get super excited for the weekly releases, and I unironically thought that Chainsaw Man was one of the best things to ever grace the planet.

God, I could go on and on about how retarded the storyline is, but I'll spare you my autistic rant. Probably the most frustrating thing about the part is that Denji literally just never progresses as a character. Admittedly, I don't know if that has changed in recent chapters, but I'm guessing that it hasn't just based off of that one 4chan post you shared. Denji just continues messing up over and over and he never seems to learn anything, and it's not even funny, either. Fujimoto could have made the story about anything, like exploring ideas about maturity or something, but instead he opted to literally just make the entire part a massive run-on joke about how Denji is obsessed with sex.

It's a complete retcon of his character, too, because Denji was obviously meant to be this kind of character who, despite his perpetual horniness and surface-level retardation, is incredibly intelligent and intuitive. It's literally shown in the first chapter when that mafia guy drives up to him and tells him that he'll give him money if he swallows the cigarette—to which Denji accepts but only pretends to. It was also shown at the end of Part 1 where Denji outwits Makima and uses her own obsession that he discerned, against her and manages to kill her without her noticing.

But Part 2 just throws all of that in the trash and makes him look like an absolute moron who doesn't think for a second about anything he does. I can only guess that Fujimoto might have done that specifically to make room for Asa as a new protagonist, but he literally never does anything with her and she has barely any character growth and may as well just be a side-character. Fujimoto clearly had no idea where he was going to lead Part 2 and just winged it.

God save this manga. Even JJK was better than this garbage.

I have absolutely no idea why Zoomer fags are so magnetized by these manga.

These works are usually praised for having “more realistic protagonists.” As if a character like Denji is someone to aspire to. In its closest rival, JJK, Itadori is a gay ass bitch who just cries all the time. JJK is just Deadpool's manga version.

I, too, gave in to the hype and started reading it from the Reze arc after finishing the first season of the Anime. I just couldn’t stand it. That cunt Reze with her eternal smugness and wise-cracking whore mouth just melted my fucking brain. The only good part of that arc was Makima BTFO’ing that bitch. Then commenced the “Santa” arc or whatever the fuck name was that arc’s. Right from the get-go, it was just nihilistic violence. So, I just shut it a few chapters in and never picked it up.

People clamor on about fucking postmodern wokeness, but gulp postmodern (violence, nihilism, pathetic simp protags, whore-ass and sharp-tongued foid characters) trashes like this as if they are gourmet or some shit.

What the fuck is the appeal? I don’t get it. Everyone just treats fiction like a Big Brother show now.

“Why is my character not getting any limelight in this arc?”

“Why is my character dying?”

“Why is my character blah blah blah...”

Shut up, seriously.
I seriously think that’s the core reason as to why modern stories are so trash.

I'd been skeptical of part 2 since early on maybe around the arc with asas friend. The plot was going fucking nowhere. Around falling devil I had enough of this plot just meandering. Dropped the series. Everything ive seen since has vindicated me lmao

FUJI FUJI PLEASE HEAR ME JAPAN
DO SOMETHING INCREDIBLY FUNNY AND PISS OFF THE FANBASE
LET THIS SERIES END ON SUCH A LOW POINT PLEASEE

Japanese mangakas trying to make a decent ending for their story(impossible)

Brutal when Rudy has better character development than Denji

Is Pochita stupid? Why would he kill himself like that for no reason?

Part 2 should have just been the adventures of Denji and nayuta with death appearing near the end. Asa/Yoru killed the whole series (for now).

God save this manga. Even JJK was better than this garbage.
They are both pretty mid, if i had to choose one i would choose Chainsaw due to gorgeous art and more interesting plot.

I have absolutely no idea why Zoomer fags are so magnetized by these manga.
They are just popular due to being seinen-like shonens, depicting a lot of violence and sexual themes, which is not the norm in shounens.

I guess it's not just a Zoomer fag thing. Normietards used to cream their pants over HxH. Decent anime but I hate it because of how much normietards use that show to bash on the big three and Dragon Ball. At the core, that anime is absolutely boring with too many edgelord and shoehorned strong foid characters.

Same, no idea why people are surprised, when shart 2 was bad from the beginning.

I unironically thought that Chainsaw Man was one of the best things to ever grace the planet.
To be fair, Part 1, Fire Punch and Goodbye Eri were great.

That's the problem with the fandoms usually they turn people away, i watched frieren and thought it was okay. Seeing it glazed to infinity by normies made me dislike the show.

Shuumatsu no valkyrie is another example of a normie glazed series, like it's okay but it's nothing noteworthy. Normies coming into anime made possible more adaptations, but brought toxicity and their normiedom. Which i'm not quite sure if it's worth it or not

I dropped this shit around chapter 190 or something it got way too boring

I stopped reading after Makima died cause no more hot anime girl, is part 2 worth reading ?

The author is a retard and this manga's fans are a bunch of pseudo intellectuals who make this simple rent a girlfriend type story seem like a masterpiece.

Not if you want any actual resolution or at least one you won't need to read long online arguments justifying why they are "good" (though, I guess we'll see next tuesday about all of that), but it does expand on the setting and its lore and introduces concepts and characters that at least can be used well in fanfics.

I see... maybe I will check :feelsokman:

whats even the point of watching an anime with a main character like this

Been a consistent reader since 2021 and csm’s quality in pt 2 has gone down so much it isn’t even funny.

Art;
The art is shit now, we have yoshida phasing on top of a chair that he’s “sitting” on.

Pacing;
The pacing is god awful, it took over 4 months to reach the end of this yoru v denji fight and the only notable thing that happens writing wise is denji and asa’s conversation about their parents and somehow now the ending is insanely rushed? How Fuji does that blows my mind.

Side Characters;
Side characters have been far far weaker in overall writing, compare people like Aki, power, hell even himeno and you’ll notice their writing no diffs pt 2’s side characters such as barem.

Inconsistencies;
Denji having flash backs of power, their promise of him befriending the next blood devil seemingly leading nowhere and being completely forgotten.

The part where I bitch;
I’ve been preaching these things for fucking months and all these stupid faggots who only got into the manga after the reze movie released just spam “buh reading literacy” without being able to disprove any of my points but now that other twitter faggots have finally gotten fed up they now are realizing how many issues csm pt 2 has had, all these stupid niggers genuinely need to be murdered they’re all trendhopping morons and need to be publicly executed.

I forgot that I even read 231. just forgot about csm after whatever that was.
