Castlevania 4 vs Rondo of Blood

Which do you prefer? I think Rondo has the better soundtrack and bosses, but 4 has more difficult and engaging platforming stages. Rondo is more focused on enemies than platforming.
Rondo has the benefit of multiple branching paths and Maria as a playable character. However, 4 has much better controls with you being able to have full control over the direction of Simons whip with multiple directions.

In terms of unfairness, 4 is probably far more unfair than Rondo. In typical Castlevania fashion, the knockback can be very obnoxious. Specifically in stage 3, and 9. In Rondo of Blood, the knockback isn't nearly as bad. Although, it's definitely there in some levels such as the ghost ship.

Yeah, same. Rondo is good too, but it has much less platforming. 4 felt like the last classical Castlevania outside of the remix/rearranged 1 they released.

Played 4, but never beat it, but I played and beat bloodlines and thought it was ok, but underwhelming.

Bloodlines is pretty mediocre. IV is really good. Rondo of Blood is best imo. You should play IV again.

Fun fact too, it was renamed the new generation in Europe and the blood pool on the title screen was replaced with water
