i can't have an access to a pepper spray since where i live people are so retarded they don't even know what does "pepper spray" means but i could carry a gun if i want. it's still a stupid idea to hold a firearm that could be the cause of me being thrown in jail.

I actually do carry pepper spray. Couple of things: I've never sprayed my eyes, but I sprayed my arm with it. It doesn't really feel like anything, maybe a mild tingling.
Also, it's very easy to forget it's in my pocket along with a pen or car keys or a boxcutter, may not even instinctively reach for it even if something crazy happens again.
