"The bill would allow the attorney-general to temporarily designate addresses – such as where a show is taking place – as community safety zones, and anti-LGBTQ harassment, intimidation and hate speech within 100 metres would be subject to a $25,000 fine."
Public Conference
I live in Canada so I look more into this than some of you, but this country is really collapsing fast.
In Canada, we have no constitutional guarantee to freedom of speech like in the USA, we have a charter of rights that gives a "freedom of expression", but our charter of rights also says the government may limit our rights if it is of benefit to society. So I don't see this being legally challenged successfully.
Of course, this benefit is determined by the government, and no benefit to society is actually considered.
For reference, the average yearly income for a Canadian citizen in 2022 was $59,300. This means if you are caught saying "hate speech" near LGBT people, you could lose almost half your yearly income. Imagine that, imagine this being tolerated in any sane society.
