The closest things I played that are visual novels are black souls and blue archive
Thanksi really recommend steins gate the story was really fun to play through seeing the whole world and rintaro's struggles it was a fun read
Yeah i heard about it mainly because of the memes I'll start reading it after I finish steins gate and full metal daemon muramasaThere's this really good one called Subarashiki Hibi or Wonderful Everyday.
The VN basically follows the days leading up to the 20th of July after a foid classmate's suicide. Each chapter is told from a different character's perspective. A lot of chapter's are told from the perspective of delusional characters so you slowly have to piece everything together as not everything makes sense yet, building toward a big plot twist near the end.
The third chapter (also the longest one I think) is told from the perspective of an 18 year old virgin incel who's slowly going insane (I don't want to spoil too much, but it's really good).
Very good story, took me about 60 hours to finish. I'm pretty sure it blew up on TikTok recently as a "rape" game or something, but it's not like that at all, it actually has a lot of "philosophical" elements which I personally don't give a fuck about (philosophy is gay as fuck). The story is really deep and sad. Make sure you play a fully patched version though, ryuugames should have it.
Also skipping the first chapter (Down the Rabbit Hole I) at first is totally fine, but you have to play it either as your first chapter or after completing every chapter.
Good luck thenYeah i heard about it mainly because of the memes I'll start reading it after I finish steins gate and full metal daemon muramasa
